RHM – Pazardzhik has received 70,000 leva from the Ministry of Culture to research the Yunatsite settlement mound

On September 16, 2024, regular archaeological excavations of the Yunatsite settlement mound will continue, supported by funding from the Ministry of Culture. This project was awarded to the Regional History Museum in Pazardzhik and is valued at 70,000 leva. Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamen Boyadzhiev, the team will conduct work until October 17, 2024, which will include excavations within the settlement mound as well as drilling outside to access the earliest layers from the Stone-Copper Age. This research aims to enhance our understanding of the settlement structure and the separation between the inhabited areas of the mound and the production zones outside it. Additionally, several studies will provide insights into life at the mound during the 5th millennium BC.
