The Renovated Archaeology Hall Opens Its Doors to Visitors

Starting October 1, 2024, the Archaeology Hall of the Regional History Museum in Pazardzhik will reopen to the public, having undergone modernization as part of the project “Revitalization of the Space and Renovation of the Exhibition in the Archaeology Hall.” This initiative is funded under the RA 14 “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage, and Cooperation” Program, with a focus on improving cultural heritage management.

The new exhibition features a harmonious and functional design that showcases some of the museum’s most valuable and intriguing archaeological artifacts. For the first time in a permanent display at the Regional History Museum, visitors will see gold finds from the Yunatsite settlement mound, the Thracian treasure from Ravnogor, gold artifacts from Sinitovo and Kalugerovo, the treasure from Tsruncha, and collective coin finds from Chernogorovo, Miryantsi, and Kostandovo. Additionally, the exhibit includes a coin from the Thracian tribe “Deroni,” one of the earliest coins discovered in the region, along with other remarkable numismatic artifacts.

Advanced methods for presenting cultural treasures transform the Archaeology Hall into an engaging space, offering visitors a unique experience that fulfills educational and spiritual inquiries into archaeological heritage. An interactive map will guide visitors through local fortresses, settlements, mounds, necropolises, sanctuaries, and churches studied in the Pazardzhik region. Interactive stratigraphy will showcase the layers of the Yunatsite settlement mound and its characteristic finds from different periods.

Using augmented reality, the exhibition will allow guests to enjoy fascinating experiences, including a depiction of the dance of the nymphs from the Sanctuary of the Three Nymphs, a reconstruction of a prehistoric dwelling, a Thracian chariot, and the medieval fortress of Tsepina. Visitors can even virtually try on a part of the Tsranchan treasure and take a selfie as a memento.

A personal audio guide card will provide artistic narrations, revealing interesting facts about the artifacts on display in the hall.

The exhibition will be open for visits on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
