130 years since the First Bulgarian Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition
On July 27, 2022, at 5.00 pm in the house museum “Konstantin Velichkov”, site of the Regional Historical Museum – Pazardzhik, 6 Teodor Trayanov Str., will open the exhibition, dedicated to 130 years of the First Bulgarian Agricultural – industrial exhibition.
In 1891, the government of Stefan Stambolov decided to organize an exhibition, with which the Bulgarian people could show their traditional productions and hard work, and to attract the participation of the industrial countries, taking an example from their achievements. First Bulgarian Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition opened on 15 August 1892.
Until it closed on November 1, 1892, the exhibition was visited by 167,922 Bulgarians from Mysia, Thrace, Macedonia, and foreigners. After the closure by decree of Prince Ferdinand, the garden of the Exhibition was named “Tsar Simeon” and gifted by the Bulgarian state to the people of Plovdiv with the one condition that they take care of it.
