The Board of the Bulgarian Museums Association met with the Minister of Culture

On 17 August 2022, the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Museums Association held a meeting with the Minister of Culture prof. Veleslav Minekov. The meeting was also attended by Assoc. dr. Plamen Slavov – Deputy Minister of Culture and Ms. Ekaterina Dzhumalieva – Director of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Museums and Fine Arts
On behalf of the Association “Bulgarian Museums” took part in the meeting of Boris Hadzhiyski (Director of the Regional History Museum – Pazardzhik) – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ch. ace. dr. Ognyan Todorov (Director of the Regional Museum of Natural History – Plovdiv) – Vice-Chairman of the Board, Dr. Ivan Tsarov (Director of the Regional History Museum – Veliko Tarnovo) – a member of the Board, and Dr. Daniel Rumenov (Director of the Regional History Museum – Shumen) – a member of the Board.

The inclusion of 50 municipal museums and art galleries in the system of state funding was also a topic of discussion, as well as the urgent distribution of the 5.5 million BGN, voted by the National Assembly in June, for these institutions
The leadership of the Ministry of Culture and the Bulgarian Museums Association agreed to cooperate about the necessary changes in the Cultural Heritage Act and the Act for the Protection and Development of Culture, as proposals from the museums for amendments to both laws are expected.
